About PMtheBuilder

The Story

PM the Builder started with a simple observation: the best AI PMs aren't just managing — they're building. And there were almost no resources that taught that mindset.

When I started building AI products, I looked for resources — newsletters, courses, communities — that would help me bridge the gap between traditional product management and this new world of AI-native development. I found almost nothing useful.

The PM content out there is either too theoretical ("AI will change everything!") or too technical ("here's how transformers work"). Neither helps you ship an AI feature next sprint.

So I built what I wish existed: a newsletter with practical, tactical advice for PMs who want to build AI products — not just manage AI projects.

Why PM the Builder Exists

The product management profession is splitting in two. On one side: PMs who can build, prototype, and evaluate AI features. On the other: PMs who write specs and hope engineers make it work.

The first group is getting hired into $300K–$500K+ roles at the world's best companies. The second group is getting automated, merged with program management, or laid off.

PM the Builder exists to help you join the first group.

The AI Product Engineer Manifesto

An AI Product Engineer is a PM who builds — not just specs.

  • We prototype before we PRD. We test the AI before asking engineers to build around it.
  • We write evals, not just acceptance criteria. We know how to measure non-deterministic systems.
  • We speak the language. Context windows, model drift, prompt injection — we have opinions, not just awareness.
  • We ship incrementally. AI features don't waterfall. We ship small, measure fast, iterate constantly.
  • We're honest about uncertainty. AI is probabilistic. We build products that handle that gracefully.
  • We stay technical enough to be dangerous — and human enough to build products people love.
